Nineteen years ago I went into the hospital to have a scheduled c-section to deliver a baby boy. The doctors learned with my oldest child that I could not deliver naturally so they schedule the c-section, allowed me to be awake, and allowed Raymond to be in the operating room as he was with the oldest.
They decided to deliver the second child a couple of weeks early. My due date was Dec. 23, but my Dr. decided he didn't want to wait that long, for many reasons, and I was fine with it as I didn't want to be in the hospital and away from the oldest at Christmas, and quite frankly I was worried about the pregnancy and thought that once the baby was delivered we would all be better off.
So on December 14, 1993 I am the operating room, the doctors have opened me up to deliver the baby and before they can even take him out he is screaming. I looked at the Dr. and said, "That can't be a good sign."
I admit the early years were very rough with my youngest. Not all the time, but enough to make you stay on your toes. Fortunately he outgrew that and is true delight to be around now, but maybe that is because is so "my child."
Happy Birthday to my Baby Boy!
