Taking Care of Myself

I am not good about taking care of myself, but with the tightness in my chest today and the bronchial cough, I decided to spend the day quilting and watching movies with eye candy in them.  I told the youngest he had the day off once he took out the garbage, moved my salt lamp into the living room and filled the fountain.

I settled into the couch with the foyer table runner I am hand quilting project, Netflix and Amazon Instant Videos. I decided to watch: The Wedding Planner, Evening Star, and Failure to Launch.  My favorite eye candy was Bradley Cooper. He has the prettiest eyes.  I had some good laughs, some tears, and best of all I was not stressed.

Tonight I watched The Long, Long Trailer with Loni and Sarah.

Tomorrow will probably be another day of quilting, movies and rest. I think next week will be just as stressful as last week and I want to be ready to go.

A Night of Laughs

Recently the youngest asked me about a movie someone had referenced to him that had a paperboy wanting his $2.00.  I looked it up and told him it was "Better Off Dead."  I had not seen the movie, but Loni had, and tonight she brought it over for us to watch.  It was quite amusing and the youngest was pleased because he said he would be able to get several more references now.

Earlier in the day I noticed that one of the stations was running episodes of the original Batman series with Adam West and Burt Ward along with Lost in Space.  I recorded those and then we all watched them after the movie since the youngest had not seen these great classics.  We had a lot of laughs watching those old shows and making fun of just how bad they really were.

It was a great night of laughs.

Weekend of Movies

Loni and I did a lot of movie watching over the weekend, especially while I was hand quilting and she was machine quilting. Some of the movies were favorite oldies, a couple of them were new to me.  All and all, I am glad I was able to entertain myself while sitting on the couch trying to perfect my stitching.

The best one was "Play the Game."  There is a part where Andy Griffith is slipped a mickey full of crushed viagra that is a classic!

Tammy, Tell Me True brought be back to Saturday afternoons in Ohio when I would watch them on the late afternoon show while babysitting.

All in all, a pretty good weekend.  Loni and I both made great progress on our quilts, and there were quite a few laughs thrown in the mix too.

Highly Recommend

Coen Brothers "True Grit."  The dialogue was true poetry to my ears.  The acting was amazing.  Costuming, makeup, the entire thing was very entertaining.  The Coen Brothers have not let me down yet.

Movies

I have started going to the movies more the last couple of years.  I find it really boosts my morale and keeps me from being a total hermit.  The trick to this though is finding movies I want to see.

Tonight I was thinking about the movies I have seen since I started this effort and overall I am quite pleased with my choices.

Some of my favorites:

Due Date (Robert Downey Jr. is just so yummy.)

There were others, but these are the ones I remember.

Sometimes a movie touches me because it reminds me of a different time in my life.  Other times I just like the action.

I have found that I am oddly attracted to Vince Vaughn.  There is something about the way he moves.  It is comforting. Familiar.

I'm looking forward to seeing the Adam Sandler movie "Just Go With It."

I saw some previews today that looked promising.  Looking forward to some good mindless entertainment to get me out of the house in 2011.

Went to see "Star Trek"

The boys and I went to see "Star Trek" this evening. It was good. I think it could have been about 10 minutes shorter, but I was fascinated with making comparisons, and I thought the guy that played Nero was really good looking, so it kept my interest. I really think the casting of the movie was excellent.

I would have enjoyed it more if I hadn't had to watch so many action movie previews before the movie started. I was really starting to get jumpy. G.I. Joe and Transformer previews made me edgy. Of course, they could have showed me about 30 more minutes of the new Johnny Depp movie previews. He looked really handsome as Dillinger.

I also was having a problem because I am not used to going to the theater at that time of the day. We usually go first thing on Sunday mornings, so the smell of all the food in the theater with us was really gagging me. The guys sitting next to me had something that really smelled bad. I spent the first part of the movie with my hand over my nose and mouth and breathing through my mouth.

As always I enjoyed watching my boys watch the movie. Their reactions to things crack me up.

All in all a very nice evening.
