Not in Front of the Boys

A friend of Raymond's told me today that he thought Raymond had no quality of life the last two years before he died. He said this in front of the boys. It was all I could do not to scream at him.

Raymond may not have been as physically active the last two years of his life, but he painted, stretched his mind, and learned new skills. Most importantly he spent two extra years with his boys.

I hate it when people say stuff like that in front of the boys.

Raymond lived for those boys. Every battle with the cancer was about the boys. I think he considered himself to have the highest quality of life each time he saw their faces.

Unfortunately some people were born without a sensitive bone in their body. Consider this guy one of those. NO ONE has the right to judge or comment on what you and Raymond went through.

If the boys bring it up, just tell them that this guy's mom didn't finish raising him well. She forgot all about tact and teaching him to keep his yap shut when it isn't helpful.

Does the guy still have his front teeth? You know the truth in your heart and I'm sure the boys know how hard he fought and how much he loved both you and them. Hang in there, sounds like you've had a deeply reflective weekend.

The boys are way too smart to believe such a stupid remark. I know Raymond was happy to have every minute he had with you and the boys and the yahoo that said that doesn't have a first clue about anything, much less about Raymond and his adored wife and sons.

How horrible! Raymond's quality of life was spending that precious extra time with his family.

You know otherwise so disregard that stupid person's comments.

Ignorance without malice is a great learning opportunity, not to be taken lightly or wasted.
