I watched "The Help" again last night with a young friend
who has not yet read the book or seen the movie, As I watched Aibileen with Mae Mobley, I
wished every child in the world had someone to tell them "You is kind.
You is smart. You is important."
I
remember telling a young man one day that I thought he was really
smart. He looked at me and told me "no one has ever said that to me
before." Made me want to weep.
